Import from Binance

Last updated: 2026-08-26

Binance has several export paths with different limits. The steps below are from Binance's own support articles as I checked them in August 2026; menu names drift, so if a label has changed, look for the nearest equivalent.

Which export to use

Use Transaction Records (the full asset history). It includes trades, deposits, withdrawals, fees and distributions. The "Trade History" export only has spot trades and no deposits or withdrawals, so on its own it cannot pair transfers.

Steps (website)

  1. Go to Assets → Asset History.
  2. Hover over the export icon and choose Export Transaction Records.
  3. Choose a range. Presets cover recent months; use Customize for older periods. Each statement covers at most one year, so export one statement per year you have held the account.
  4. Click generate. Binance notifies you by SMS/email when it is ready; the download link expires after 7 days.
  5. Download each file and name it by year (binance-2023.csv) so a missing one is obvious.

On the app: Assets → History → My Trades → Order History → download icon.

Binance caps the number of statements you can generate per month (the quota is shown in the interface; the help pages quote 15 to 40 for transaction records). Do not spend them on test exports.

Import into Holdbound

  1. Drop all the yearly files into Import at once.
  2. Each should be detected as Binance. Time zone is UTC; leave it.
  3. Name the account (for example "Binance"). Use the same account name for every yearly file from the same Binance account.
  4. Import. Overlapping ranges are fine; duplicate rows are skipped by content.

After importing: common questions

Fees in BNB. Binance often charges trading fees in BNB. The app records the fee in BNB and includes it in cost basis as a small disposal of BNB. This is expected; it is also why your BNB balance slowly falls.

Small balance conversions / dust. "Small assets exchange BNB" rows import as sells of the dust coins and a buy of BNB. Many tiny rows are normal.

Distributions, staking and Launchpool rewards. These import as reward with zero cost unless the export gives a value. If you want them valued, edit the transaction and enter the value at the time.

Withdrawals show the net amount. Binance deducts the network fee from the withdrawal; the app reads the fee column so the withdrawal can still be paired with the deposit on the other side. See Transfers and matching.

Rows from Margin, Futures or Earn accounts are skipped. The app is spot only. Each skipped row is listed in the import preview with the reason "non-spot account", so you can see exactly what was left out. This is expected, not an error.

Binance.US. A separate company with a separate export page. Its file layout is not the same; try it as Binance first, and if it is not recognised use the generic template.

Year boundary. Binance timestamps are UTC. A trade at 7 pm Pacific on December 31 is a January 1 trade in the CSV and in the app. The yearly realized-gains summary follows UTC dates.
