Educational tool, not advice

Holdbound is a calculator for your own crypto records. Everything it shows you — holdings, profit and loss, cost basis, holding-period insights — and everything written on https://holdbound.com is provided for general information and educational purposes only.

It is not financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, accounting advice, or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for any of those. I am a software developer, not a licensed financial advisor, tax professional, accountant, or lawyer, and nothing here creates a professional relationship between us.

It doesn't tell you what to do

The software never recommends buying, selling, or holding any asset. The "holding-period insight" compares the realized results of your own trades held under 7 days with those held over 90 days. Those are performance windows chosen for that card, not tax categories, and they carry no meaning under any country's tax rules. It describes what happened in your data, not what you should do next. Past results in your own history are not a prediction of future results.

Your numbers are only as good as your records

The software calculates from the CSV files you import and the entries you type or edit. If an export is incomplete, an exchange changed its format, a transfer match is wrong for your situation, or you changed a value manually, the results will reflect that. Review them. The software makes its matching rules visible and lets you override them precisely because automatic rules are sometimes wrong.

Prices come from CoinGecko at the moment you refresh and can differ from the prices on your exchange.

Taxes

Tax treatment of cryptocurrency differs by country and changes frequently. Which cost-basis method you are allowed or required to use, whether transfers between your own wallets are taxable, and how staking or fees are treated are questions for the tax authority and the rules that apply to you. Holdbound offers FIFO and average cost as calculation methods; offering a method is not a statement that it is accepted where you live. The software does not produce tax forms for any jurisdiction. Use its exports as working material for yourself or a qualified professional, and verify before you file.

No guarantee of accuracy or availability

I test the software carefully, but I cannot promise it is free of errors, that it supports every variant of every exchange export, or that third-party price data will always be available. See the Terms of Service for the warranty and liability terms.

Articles on https://holdbound.com may describe exchanges, competing tools, tax rules, and prices as they were on the date written. They go stale. Check the live source before acting on anything. Links to other sites are provided for convenience; I am not responsible for their content.

If in doubt

Talk to a qualified professional who knows your situation. If anything in the software seems wrong, write to support@holdbound.com — I would rather hear about a calculation bug than have you file the wrong number.
