Import from Coinbase
Last updated: 2026-08-26
One custom statement covers everything on the main Coinbase platform. Coinbase Advanced (formerly Coinbase Pro) is a separate export; see below. I could not load Coinbase's own help page when writing this (it returned an error to my fetch), so these steps follow the help-center summary shown in search results and a 2026 third-party import guide that agrees with it. If a menu label differs, look for "Statements".
Steps (website)
- Click your profile icon → Settings → Accounts → Statements (app: Account and settings → Statements), or go straight to
accounts.coinbase.com. - Stay on the Transactions tab, not Futures.
- Under Generate custom statement, choose All assets, All transactions, and a Custom date range that starts as far back as your account goes.
- Choose CSV and generate. Monthly statements are also available one by one in CSV, PDF or HTML; for import you want one CSV covering everything.
Coinbase Advanced / Coinbase Pro
History from Coinbase Pro / Advanced is a separate export (a "fills" file) and is not necessarily included in the regular statement. The app recognises the Pro fills layout as well; import it under the same account name so transfers between Coinbase and Coinbase Pro cancel out, or under a different name if you want them tracked separately.
Import into Holdbound
- Drop the statement CSV (and the Pro fills file if you have one) into Import.
- Each should be detected as Coinbase.
- Time zone: Coinbase does not document the time zone of the statement CSV. Compare one recent row with the timestamp shown in the Coinbase app before trusting it. If they differ by a fixed number of hours, set the time zone on the import step accordingly.
- Name the account "Coinbase". Import.
After importing: common questions
"Send" and "Receive" rows. These are withdrawals and deposits. A Send to your own wallet pairs with the deposit on the other side once that wallet's history is imported; a Send to someone else stays a disposal. See Transfers and matching.
Coinbase Earn, staking income, rewards. Import as reward. Coinbase statements usually include a value at the time, which the app uses as the cost basis.
Converts. A Convert row imports as a sell of one coin and a buy of another at the values in the statement.
Fees. Coinbase shows the fee as a separate column and the subtotal without the fee. The app reads both and treats the fee as part of your cost (buys) or as reducing proceeds (sells).
"This is a Coinbase file, but not the one the app needs." You exported a Tax Center gain/loss report or the Coinbase Pro "Account" report. The app recognises those and declines them on purpose: they do not contain the raw transactions. Generate the custom Transactions statement instead.
Closed or restricted account. Statement access can shrink once an account is restricted. Export once a year as insurance.
